GLIMUN 2022 COVID Protocols

GLICA cares about the safety of our staff and those we serve, including delegates and advisors. To ensure the safety of staff, delegates, and advisors, we must take proven steps against the spread of COVID-19 infections. The COVID-19 vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective at preventing the spread of COVID-19 infections and reducing their severity. In addition, the vaccines are an important part of the public health strategy to see us out of this pandemic.

To attend GLIMUN 2022, you must have received your second dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech, Novavax, or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine or your only dose of the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine by November 16, 2022.

If your child has a medical condition that prevents them from receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, you may be offered an exemption from the vaccination policy. Acceptable contraindications include a documented allergic reaction to a COVID-19 vaccine, a documented allergic reaction to an ingredient in the COVID-19 vaccine, or a physical condition or medical circumstance that makes vaccination unsafe.

If your child has a sincerely held religious belief that prevents them from receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, you may be offered an exemption from the vaccination policy.

GLICA plans to maintain a spreadsheet documenting whether students, staff, and advisors have been vaccinated. This information will be kept by the Secretary-General of GLIMUN 2022 in a password-protected folder, and will not be stored with any other conference information. GLICA does not currently plan to maintain any records of vaccination beyond this spreadsheet. The spreadsheet documenting student and advisor vaccination status will be maintained until March 31st, 2023, after which it will be deleted, and the email account associated with this form terminated. GLICA also plans to cooperate with any requests for information that result from public health investigations.

Regarding GLICA staff access, only the Secretary-General of the 2022 conference will have access to the spreadsheet. Teachers, advisors, GLICA staff members, or hotel officials do not have access. Teachers will only be communicated with regarding whether or not a student who is registered for the conference needs a parent to fill out this attestation form. Individual GLICA staff members are not permitted to request a vaccination status from a student.

We are not collecting physical vaccine cards, or pictures of them.

The GLICA Board and GLIMUN 2022 conference team plan to monitor the COVID-19 situation and make adjustments to our conference policies to reflect the on-the-ground conditions in December. Our policies on other mitigation strategies, such masking and social distancing, will be announced closer to conference when we have more information on the COVID-19 levels and local policies.

We have conducted a survey of our participating schools and found that each district has different privacy regulations or preferences regarding whether school staff are allowed to inquire as to vaccination status or collect vaccine information. In order to allow the maximum number of schools to participate safely and respect districts’ policies regarding vaccine data collection, we have removed the process from the purview of the advisors with the exception of letting them know if a student has yet to fill out this form.

If you do not submit this form on behalf of your child by November 18, we will not have a place for them at the conference and will contact the advisor to please remove them from the registration list. If they arrive at the Radisson during conference hours, they will be denied credentials to participate in the conference.
