Over the past decade the price on oil internationally has significantly risen. A surplus of solutions have risen for deviating from just standard oil like solar or electric energy. Yet the planet is not able to turn aside from crude oil, even though effects of fossil fuels have been showing significantly through the evidence of global warming. One solution to this problem that could ultimately lower the price for crude oil indefinitely is offshore drilling. Canada recognizes the need for crude oil to be addressed, and that making offshore drilling available to countries with that opportunity would significantly help the seemingly never ending rise in oil prices.
Canada has been a strong proponent of offshore drilling for the past decades. The availability of oil in offshore regions of Canada is unimaginable. Last year alone Canada 's oil accounted for over two thirds of Americas imports on oil. It is one of the major exports for Canada and without it Canada 's economy could severely suffer. Canada’s oil production is set to double within the next twelve years and from then they United States could but all of its oil from Canada.
Not only does offshore drilling in Canada produce a surplus of oil for its self and its petroleum loving neighbor the United States but it also pulls the reliance of oil from the middle eastern countries. It creates thousands of job opportunities for people who have lost their jobs. Jobs created to build the infrastructure, drill the oil, and then distribute it. This would also bring more money into Canada to circulate through the economy.
People say that offshore drilling would not produce sufficient oil for at least five to ten years. But studies have shown that if Canada started drilling in areas where there is known to be oil that oil could be distributed within the next three years. This proves that offshore drilling in not only a long tern solution but also a short term solution.
