Privacy Policy

Great Lakes Invitational Conference Association (GLICA) runs glica.org to organize its Model United Nations conferences. This policy explains what information the site collects and how it is used.

Information we collect

• Advisor accounts. When a teacher or advisor requests a login, we collect their name, school, email address and phone number so we can create the account and contact them about conferences.
• Conference registration. Registration forms collect the school, the advisor’s contact details, the number of delegates, and country and committee preferences.
• Position papers. Papers submitted through the site include the delegate’s name, school, country and committee, and the text of the paper. Papers are published on the site as part of the conference archive. A delegate who would like their name removed from a published paper can email info@glica.org and we will remove it.
• Donations. Online donations are processed by PayPal or Venmo. We receive the donor’s name, email address and the amount; we never see card or bank details.
• Contact form. Messages sent through the Contact page include the name and email address you enter.

How we use it

Only to run the conferences: setting up accounts, assigning countries and committees, producing name tags and awards lists, answering questions, and keeping the archive of past position papers. Advisors who have requested an account or registered a school may receive email from GLICA about our conferences and related programs. We do not sell or rent any of it, and we do not send email unrelated to GLICA.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they use. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects anonymized usage data; it does not tell us who you are. Logging in to the site sets the standard WordPress cookies needed to keep you signed in.

Who can see your information

GLICA board members and conference staff who need it to run the conference. Position papers are public. Advisor contact details are not.

Keeping and deleting information

Advisor accounts stay active while the school participates. Advisors can update their own details from the My Account page and can ask us to delete an account at any time by emailing webmaster@glica.org.

Position papers stay in the public archive as a record of each conference. A delegate, parent or advisor who wants a paper taken down, or a name or other personal detail removed from one, can email webmaster@glica.org.
