Greece informed WHO and Europe on May 20th 2009 of its first scientifically confirmed case of the Pandemic Flu. This count has grown to 165 confirmed cases on July 8th. The spread of disease has created a valid issue to be considered by the governments of Europe. 60% of people who have contracted the virus across the continent had traveled to infected areas in the Americas. The widespread spread and dynamic of the Pandemic Flu has countries around the globe searching for effective methods of containment and administering treatment.
Health Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos announced in January that the Prime Minister decided to enact a country wide vaccination for our 11 million citizens and any residents in the country. 24 million vaccinations will be created for this action. Prime Minister Yeoryios Papandreou advises all residents to take two vaccines to ensure the proper immune strength against the virus. The Prime Minister stresses that the death rates for this virus are minuscule and that the residents of Greece should continue their lives as normal. Greece is a member of the European Union, and North Atlantic Trade Organization. Other members of these organizations with strong medical systems and the ability to distribute the vaccinations would be strong supporters of our solutions. We would propose to create a similar solution to our own, with a strong detection system installed in nations that may not have the infrastructure to facilitate such a widespread reaction. We would be opposed to any solutions that involved large social chaos or public fear and anxiety. This situation is one that should be addressed calmly and quickly as to preserve the peace of the nation.
