The situation in Kyrgyzstan is dire. The government in the Republic of Kyrgystan is not able to effectively serve and protect it’s citizens due to an unstable political environment. To ensure the welfare of the Kyrgyz people, Brazil wishes to help to stabilize the country, although we are against the use of peacekeepers. We would prefer that *peace talks* between the parties involved be established, along with the United States, Russia, and China. Brazil would be willing to moderate these peace talks, seeing as we have no vested interest in the conflict and we are relatively isolated from all countries involved, both geographically and politically.
Looking to the peace talks from the Korean Conflict in the 1950's as an example, the United Nations as a whole will be able to help a stable Kyrgyz state exist on the Eurasian continent without resorting to often ineffective and sometimes barbaric peacekeepers.
Another point we must look at is that the United States currently holds an airbase in Kyrgyzstan that is used to deliver supplies to their soldiers in Afghanistan. Although Brazil does not support the war in Afghanistan and would prefer that the US and NATO remove their forces as soon as possible, at this point we cannot infringe on the sovereignty of the Kyrgyz state that allows this air base to exist.
Keep in mind that these proposed peace talks are voluntary, and will strive to respect the national sovereignty of all nations involved, while attempting to resolve the conflict in Kyrgyzstan.
