As Mongolia, we believe that healthcare should be a right given to every human being. In the 20th century so far, most Mongolians have had access to health care. This, I might add has been partly because of the fact that we have free health care and the fact that most of our physicians were trained in either Russia of the former East Germany.
We believe that if it can be managed, free health care should be provided for all, by the government. While we recognize that some governments may have debt, not enough money, etc, there is always an alternative to no healthcare at all. The three largest killers in Mongolia are cardiovascular diseases, neoplasms (an abnormal growth of body tissue), and Injury/Poisoning (World Health Organization report). With better health care, we could treat or cure patients with precision accuracy as in labs. Another problem is that 'as extreme poverty increased, so too did the need for free, basic services, but these were precisely what were being cut.' Let's talk about solutions.
One solution may be to raise funds for countries with less than enough to pay for health care. Since we cannot command funds or dip into a central fund, we will have to ask for them. As Mongolia, we would vote for a resolution that would help at least put building blocks in place for free health care.
