Recently, more and more conflicts have been occurring between nations, many of them turning violent. Many times, the United Nations encourage talking between the disputed sides and try to get a non violent resolution. Peaceful resolutions are, indeed, the most sought after. However, this is not always the case, and troops may have to be deployed to the areas. While the United Nations have to respect national sovereignty, the aiding towards peaceful terms is necessary. An issue is it’s not always apparent who the conflict is between, considering separate groups labelled as “rebels” cause some of the problems.
Argentina believes that the United Nations should be allowed to promote a peaceful and respectful discussion between two opposing sides. This should be the case and is preferred to a violent resolution. The United Nations should be more assertive in the assisting of creating peaceful fixes to issues. If they did this, there would be much less bloodshed in conflicted and battled for regions. While it is difficult to tell whether or not groups of people’s requests are legitimate, the United Nations should do all that they can to get to a peaceful fix. They should attempt and encourage communication towards these rebel groups and reach an agreement non violently.
When thousands of people are dying and basic human rights are being violated, Argentina believes that the United Nations should help by communicating to these groups, while respecting national sovereignty. If the state or group at hand refuses to do communication, their wills should be respected.
