The People’s Republic of China sees that there needs to be some improvement within our Political Conflict Resolutions Mechanisms. Say two young children are arguing about something and one of the kids asks for help from a third outside party, then it is okay for that third child to step in. However, if the child does not ask for help, the third child should not step in because it is not their battle to fight. The child arguing is trying to learn how to stand up for himself/herself. The United Nations is that third child and at times we are asked to step in and help. Other times we are not asked to help. China believes that unless asked, we should stay out of the way of those other nations.
The Political Conflict Resolutions Mechanisms within the UN need to be reinforced. The People’s Republic of China believes that when we step in when we are not asked to, we are impinging on that countries national sovereignty. We do not have the right to just step in when we feel that it is necessary. If that country that we are trying to help needs it, they will come to us, the United Nations, and ask. The UN needs to respect a countries decision to deal with its problems by itself. The countries within the UN also needs to realize that just because they view it is right for that country, does not mean that it is what should be done. China is a firm believer that the Political Conflict Resolutions Mechanisms need to be seriously thought over.
The People’s Republic of China understands that it is the United Nations job to ensure peace amongst all countries and we respect and support that ideal. However, China believes that unless asked by a country involved in a situation that could turn violent, we should stay out of that countries business. China truly believes that national sovereignty should be a shield against UN involvement in internal political conflicts. In doing so, countries that are involved in their own personal skirmishes, will become stronger as a whole.
