Many countries use technology to their advantage to inform the public. As a technologically advanced country, it is important to protect what is ours on the Internet from cyberwarfare. As defined by searchsecurity.techtarget.com, "cyberwarfare is Internet-based conflict involving politically motivated attacks on information and information systems." We have received threats of getting hacked by various radical groups who want to take out the Swiss Confederation during the time of May 2012. The threat, directed by a radical mind, pushed our country to take measures of cyber-terrorism and to rethink our standards of technological safety. Our assets must be protected for the better of the people. America, another victim of such threats and attacks, can agree that something must be done.
As the United Nations also has a duty to protect the people of our country, it should be organized to defend in the case of cyberwarfare attacks by radicals. As a delegate of the United Nations and member of the General Assembly of the Swiss Confederation, I propose that we all enact a treaty which states the allowed of cyberwarfare only justified by the means of protecting people within our individual nations. Not only that, but in the case of an attack, the treaty will support help to be taken from any possible allies, even ones not included in the United Nations, so long the treaty is exclusive to only the United Nations and the help completes the objective to protect the people of their countries. Countries like America, Switzerland, Japan, and most of the nations that are a part of our organization must be protected from cyber-terrorism.
