Although designer food would creat safer food, it also comes with health risks. Their are a lot of long term health risks The GMOS are resistant to pests, can handle climate change, and have increased harvest yields. But, the fact that they are not very beneficial in the long term is the problem. They are also not very well regulated in the countries and have harmful chemicals that can potentially damage someone eventually. But it does create more food and also more filling food for refugees, so the food being genetically modified is a good idea and should still be done.

The UN has signed a Cartagena. Which sets several standards with the process of developing and transporting the GMOS, so that the citizens feel a little more comfortable eating the designer foods. And the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights regulates the creators of the GMOS so that they can monitor what exactly is put into the foods.

Sudan wants the UN to have an efficient way of handling the GMOS so that they have a good amount of food supply but they also do not cause long term damage with their health. Also they want the conditions of the grounds and transportation of the GMOS to be regulated and information be available. So by putting more regulation on companies that develops and distribute the goods would be a good thought.

Egypt is a country that we can count on to help with this. They are the country that Sudan currently depends on and they also wish for the UN to regulate the Designer Foods.
