Countries are trading resources illegally to generate revenue for corrupt governments and to buy weapons. What can the United Nations do to stop conflict commodities from funding wars.
Conflict commodities usually happen in corrupt governments because they are not using the resources, to trade with something not harmful, as for example clean water or food for its people. What these governments are doing to its people is not good because it creates long term effects because it destroy's what could have been a sustainable amount of revenue for that countries own people.
Our parliament must pass a new oil sector oil investment law to allow foreign companies to assume major role in the country. The US has threatened to withhold funding as well as financial and military support if the law does not soon pass. The U.S is creating a "wood for food" program by threatening us. The U.S is trying to trick us into making us pass the law so they will recieve power their government may not be as transparent as they seem to be. In this conference Iraq wants to see a resolution that will effect all countries that are experiencing conflict commodities. The commitee should argue, what the more powerful nations can do to help the countries that rely on commodities for money and supplies. The stronger and powerful governments should work toghether in a way so that goods like diamonds and chocolate are not used to pay for war. A good resolution would consider a healthy, strong nation to find the means to fund in a country that is having trouble. The stong nations can help fund in that countries education or in that countries health system.
Iraq is looking foward to the conference and will address more details on how we can reach a good resolution.
