For many years the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea have remained divided by war and their differing ideologies and governments. It is finally time for these two nations to develop a treaty. This will officially end the Korean War that began in the 1950s. With the diplomatic relations of these nations improving the Korean Peninsula could finally be united on good terms. This could be the first step towards times of peace and prosperity.
Angola is geographically located far from the Korean Peninsula, but we fully encourage the idea of reconciliation. For nearly twenty-seven years our nation fought a devastating civil war. This stark division within our nation had many negative effects. Once peace was reestablished, our nation was able to make progress. The situation for North and South Korea is similar becuase both nations will benefit from a treaty. No longer divided, these nations could learn to work with one another, and make progress for their people. Their economies, citizens, and cultures will grow stronger.
Our nation is well aware of the nuclear capabilities that North Korea holds. This is why we are supportive for the DPRK to reach a newly proposed agreement. This agreement states that North Korea will shut down its Yongbyon nuclear reactor and account for all its nuclear programs in exchange for financial aid. This would not only benefit Soth Korea, but also help to ease the rising issue of nuclear production. If this agreement is enacted, it would prove how the six party talks are progressively achieving success.
