The currently existent peace between the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is the product of a long line of processes. This established trust between the two countries took much time and has created a neutral atmosphere. The war between the nations has come to a closing point as a result of these new friendly ties. The Central African Republic greatly supports the recent relations between the two previously opposing countries. Keeping in mind that there once was a great deal of turmoil, our nations need to insure that this declared peace is upheld.
With this new “peace” there are also matters that need further attention and discussion. It is no secret that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has a very elaborate past with nuclear weapons. Their nuclear program has been an issue for some time now. The termination of these nuclear facilities needs to be addressed. This matter needs to be handled carefully to insure the cooperation of the DPRK. As we know from the past, the DPRK is not particularly responsive to sanctions. Although sanctions may seem a peaceful manner in which to deal with a potentially dangerous nation, if they are to be used they need to be used with great caution. The worst of the conflicts between the two countries have been handled and are under control. This issue is not in need of too much concern and can be resolved with simple cooperation. Central African Republic is in full support of the six party talks that have lead to a great break through and urges these progressive discussions continue to take place.
