The nation of Iraq feels that the mal-treatment of prisoners should be allowed to a certain extent, depending on the nature of an individuals crime. Many citizens are sent to prison because they choose to disobey the Islamic laws, which in Iraq, are highly relevant. Also, there are prisoners who conduct exceptionally inappropriate behavior in prison and they need punishment to show them that it will not be tolerated. Iraq feels that physical contact can be made to discipline prisoners so that they promote Islamic laws.
Iraq also has overcrowding in the prison’s, which causes some to think that we will just turn those who need to be punished away. However, that will not be the case because the smaller crimes may not require jail time. We are currently trying to build new prison structures to accommodate more prisoners. For the time being, we attempt to utilize as much space as possible.
Iraq feels that the prisoners need just the right amount of nutrition necessary. We want them to realize that paying the price for a crime is long and hard. Once they are released you can almost guarantee that they will not be back because of the very strict disciplinary acts. We do not consider this as abuse, but simply as teaching a lesson to the rebellious people of our country. In order to prevent crime, the international community must set strict guidelines for criminal injustice to promote a criminal free environment
