All around the world more and more democratic governments are being set up. With these new governments comes a new set of problems. Many of these problems stem from old ruling parties not wanting to let go of their power and give it to the people, where it belongs. Also when the government is established elections come around the voting process is sometimes corrupted or inaccurate cause unrest and distrust in the new government. Even in countries where democracy has been well established there can be problems surrounding the post-election period. Mainly the goal of election is to elect leaders that the people like and trust to run their country not to stir unrest throughout the country; unfortunately though that is not the case in some countries.
Mozambique has had several peaceful democratic elections. Mozambique believes that it is possible for all countries to achieve this. As long as both political parties are willing to except the outcome of an election then it is possible for everyone to have peaceful post elections. Although Mozambique wishes that the UN would crackdown on governments that hold corrupt elections. We advocate that corrupt elections destroy the very basis of democracy and destroy the chance of that country ever becoming a real democracy. Mozambique believes that the UN should identify countries who government is corrupt or not willing for a transitions of power from one party to another. First the government should warn them then said government will be put on probation until further notice.
Mozambique wishes that the committee will be open to our view and we will solve this problem effectively as possible.
