Ethnic conflict is a huge problem. For years people have been fighting over race, even within their own countries. These fights often grow to have large scale violence. Genocide can even become a problem. As seen with Hitler, the situation can become very bad. Many people die all the time from ethnic conflicts and many countries are dealing with this problem. Other things that happen are forced mass-population transfers and secession. People have long sought to find a solution but it is a hard subject to come up with a resolution for. The United Nations has a duty to not only prevent these problems but to try and solve the current ones such as the situation in Iraq.
Egypt believes that this is a huge problem and needs to be addressed. Many people die from it every year. We as Egypt believe that countries should present periodic reports to the United Nations about the conflict situations. Egypt thinks though, that there should be criteria for selecting which countries require aid and help in conflict prevention though. Most efforts of stopping ethnic conflict are done on a national scale but it should be done on more local and regional scales. Doing that would help get more specific in the situations and the UN would be able to give better help. We believe that the United Nations should also work on preemptively stopping ethnic conflicts.
No countries oppose this. It is a sound plan and all countries want peace. Most countries agree with it. The only things that are disputed are the criteria for selection and which countries to help.
