Everyday around the world, countries are facing struggles with violence, ethnicities religion and overall just maintaining peace within their country and with their borders. The United Nations was created to help countries maintain peace and countries look to the United Nations to help them take care of the many troubles they encounter. One issue the UN is trying to address in many ways is the problem with many countries sectarian and ethnic conflict.
Guyana strongly supports the concept of regional integration. It is believed that regional integration would help in the process of making a region or country one that does not have sectarian and ethnic violence. Guyana would like to see some kind of resolution to pass that can be used to prevent this unwanted violence and is in full support of a peaceful resolution being brought about to countries experiencing sectarian and ethnic violence.
Guyana realizes that this issue is not going to be solved easily due to all the different points of views on what should be done from all the countries. There will be opposing countries to Guyana’s beliefs and it is clear that there should be long thought out discussion before anything is decided.
This topic needs to be addressed by the UN and should not be ignored. There should be a strong support not only from the UN but also from individual countries to help resolve this issue. Guyana believes that the UN should continue to keep this topic one of their top priorities.
