When the United Nations was founded in 1945 to keep the peace between nations. The United Nations has an obligation to not only keep the peace between nations, but also within nations. The UN should step in and solve sectarian and ethnic conflicts, because a negative conclusion will occur if internal conflicts continue to disintegrate the countries well being.
In Iraq, the Sunnis and the Shiites are involved in a bloody sectarian conflict. The country has been completely consumed by violence between the two groups. In February 2006, Sunni insurgents bombed a Shiite shrine north of Baghdad. The bombing unleashed an enormous sectarian conflict in Baghdad and its surrounding areas. The area is still not under control. The Sunnis are the majority of Arabs. The ties both of these groups have to the new government could result in deathly consequences for the citizens of Iraq and the rest of the world. If the United Nations does not step in, and do so quickly, the fighting could result in a full-out sectarian war. The United Nations has a responsibility to the world to prevent the collapse of Iraq.
The obligation the United Nation has needs to be fulfilled. If sectarian conflicts are ignored by the United Nations, there will be a breakdown in countries across the world. Palestine encourages the United Nations to keep the peace and protect the well being of the world.
