The Socialist Republic of Vietnam recognizes how sectarian and ethnic conflicts within a nation can influence the whole world. Factions and violence involving different kinds of groups have always been present with us. The reasons of such conflicts vary from country to country. In Iraq, for instance, there have been persecutions and separation between Sunnis and Shiites due to contrasting ideas about their religion. Also we all have a painful memory of Rwanda’s sectarian conflict between Hutus and Tutsis, occurred by the unbalance of social power. Vietnam views the main cause of the conflict is lack of dispersion of social authority.
The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is fully aware of the impact that a nation’s sectarian clash, caused by a particular group’s supreme power on others, would bring to the global society. Hence, proposes the UN to actively intervene with a nation’s political power dispersion. We, The Socialist Republic of Vietnam, have 54 ethnic groups in our country, and about 12.7 percent of our population is minorities. However, they don’t have any disadvantage to be successful. Therefore, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam should be listed as an exemplary nation which demonstrates a peaceful atmosphere of sectarian and ethnic groups. We propose to give an honor to the nation nominated publically.
Suggesting the UN to declare ethnically well-balanced nations and to honor these, we expect no need of extra expense or any kind of sacrifice but competition among conflict generating nations to earn the glorious title. Therefore, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam strongly suggests the UN to make an official list of those countries, which cope with their diversity fairly and peacefully, that clearly states the honor of them.
