Because of the amount of war and conflict in the country of Sudan over the past decade, there have been slight issues with children and armed conflict. Mainly centered around the Darfur region on the west side of the country, rebel army groups have been grafting children into their armies. With an approximate number of about 487 children being used in war, there has been much discrepancy with the UN. We the Sudan do not support the use of children as soldiers, but acknowledge that it is inevitable. For there are many unauthorized armies that abduct children without consent even though it is outlawed.
With the harsh and perilous situation that the Sudan is currently in the only thing that can be done is taking precautions. We the Sudanese government are trying our best to decrease the number of children that are involved in armed conflict, but understand the limitations. With the state of the country there is no way that the use of children in war can be completely eliminated. With the Darfur Peace Agreement and other pieces of peaceful legislature the use of children in war is hoped to greatly decrease, and already has decreased in the past few years. With great precautions and steps the elimination of the contribution of children in war in the country of Sudan will be achieved.
We the country of Sudan are open to appropriate and practical solutions to this grave issue. We wish that people will understand our situation and can help us the best they can.
