The Republic of Korea wants to acknowledge that racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, related intolerance, and social tensions and human rights violations are a deep concern of ours. We continue to show support in tackling these current issues. We would also that to acknowledge that globalization is rapid and there is a higher risk of social tensions, no country could honestly say that they are completely immune. Technology is also a victim in spreading racial hatred and xenophobia, racial discrimination and related intolerance. This is a deep concern of ours, and it influences the youth of each country. We are currently growing in migration and our country is changing to become more multi-cultural.

The international community needs to come together and show support in eliminating racism. We each need to show our own countries participation in these issues. In the issue of current technologies, we feel that each country needs to monitor certain aspects of the Internet. We need to enhance positive influence through the media, such as diversity. The act on the Treatment of Foreigners in Korea was passed just last year. Also, there is a Multi-Cultural Family Support Act this act tries to facilitate social integration towards multi-cultural families. We need to find the root of racism, and the Korean Government continues to do so.

We also acknowledge that there are different concerns involving each country. Globalization needs to be taken into consideration and each country needs to show effort in addressing the issue. The Republic of Korea would like to express how fully committed we are in tackling the issue of racism. The only way to resolve an issue as large as this is by joint effort from each country. We once again would like to say how committed we are on achieving these goals.
