Racism in all its forms has proven harmful to the targeted parties. It has resulted in emotional damage, crime, segregation, and unequal opportunity. Turkey would like to see everything possible, within reason, done to quell this issue.
One of Turkey’s main focuses is on correcting institutionalized racism within our country, and in others. The country of Turkey acknowledges that our government has engaged in racist behaviours towards a minority in our country, the Kurds, but we would like to end this behaviour as soon as deemed possible. We realize that while some in this group have been identified as terrorists, there are still many innocent people that have been unfairly treated by our government. We hope to discuss methods in which we can halt the mistreatment of those innocent individuals. Turkey would like to do this in the most peaceful way. Another form of racism we have recognized within our country is Personally-mediated racism- individual's, of different ethnic group, attitudes towards one another. In order to solve this debacle, we would like to introduce interdependence to the minority and majority of our people, as they are the root of our issue. Small steps must be taken, as racism is deeply rooted in our people’s minds, and it will not disappear immediately.
We strongly encourage other countries to acknowledge their racist behaviour, and racist behaviour within their countries, and move forward, eliminating this problem as soon as possible. The country of Turkey will be happy to work with delegates from many countries, towards achieving peace within our own country, and worldwide.
