As a nation dominated by Islam, Nigeria is sympathetic to Palestine. With is on-going war with Israel, Palestine has been forced into the isolated area of Gaza which is a giant leap down from what they used to control. However, as does many other nations, Nigeria hopes for a peaceful settlement between Israel and Palestine. Nigeria hopes that in this agreement, a peaceful return of the areas of West Bank and the rest of Gaza to Palestine. Or at least a suitable amount. Nigeria believes that a peace agreement can be made only by the ceasing of military and guerilla actions plus the even splitting of West Bank and Gaza. Disarmament is key in creating a stable environment in the Gaza area. Though Israel proposed its “ Road to Peace” plan, it is highly unlikely that any side will be able the plans created by the Israeli government as they are certain to have an unfair lean towards the wants of the Palestinian people. However if a U.N agreement can be made wit points of pro and con for both opposing factions, then there is a chance that a fair peace agreement can be made in which Israel and Palestine can agree on and make moves towards a more stable Middle East. It is of great importance that this peace agreement be one in which both Israel and Palestine can agree upon. Nigeria hopes that with this agreement, moves towards peace can made in the Israel-Palestine area.
