In the Korean Peninsula, the country of North Korea is causing conflict because of their aggressive foreign policies, now that North Korea has successfully attained nuclear weapons. North Korea has a desire to become a world superpower and be able to dictate in the world whatever they desire. This aggression while possessing their nuclear weapons gives fear to countries around the world. The fear is derived from the unknowing of whether North Korea may activate and use nuclear weapons. If North Korea were to attack any nation with their nuclear weapons it would result in a third world war that would result in devastation, hunger, violence, and human rights violations around the world. Sudan believes the United Nations must step in and take control of the production and use of nuclear arms in North Korea and around the World to prevent such violence.
North Korea also has controversial issues with their human rights. North Korea is a communist, socialist republic but is many times to be considered to be a totalitarian dictatorship in reality, which has poor accommodations for the people. The secretive government of North Korea and their closed borders keeps the extreme violations of human rights hard to identify and resolve. The United Nations as an international organization, their purpose is to promote world peace and social progress, and Sudan believes the United Nations has a responsibility to engage their resources in improving human rights around the world. The North Korean people are desperately in need of intervention by the United Nations and we must not allow people to be mistreated in the communist state of North Korea.
