In April of this year, wide spread anti-government protests in Kyrgyzstan led to the former leader of the country, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, to flee from the country. A transitional government, led by former foreign minister Rosa Otunbayeva, was established and elections were set for June. Throughout the month of May, there was a cleaning out of the supporters of the former government of Kyrgyzstan. By June, there were few supporters remaining of Kurmanbek Bakiyev. In early June, ethic riots broke out and threatened to split the country in two. A truce was struck between the Uzbek rioters, led by local leaders of the region, and the government, and the elections went on as planned. In late June, Kyrgyzstan voted to adopt a new constitution with a parliament and a president. However, the legitimacy of the constitution was in question because the victims of the ethic riots, the Uzbeks, were still recovering and mourning during the election.
Libya has diplomatic relations with Kyrgyzstan and Libya is strong allies with Pakistan, a neighbor of Kyrgyzstan. Being strong allies with Pakistan, Libya will work to achieve peace in the troubled country. Libya would be willing to support any local action to settle the disputes within the country and offer any support it can to help the troubled country. Libya would like to help its fellow Muslim brothers and sisters in their struggles to maintain control of their country and keep it out of the grasp of nations that seek to add another state to their stable.
