When in 1957 the USSR launched Sputnik, the first ever satellite, into space it spawned fears all over the world that space would soon become an extension of the Cold War. Thankfully this didn't happen because the USSR collapsed in 1991. Denmark believes that space should remain a DMZ in order to secure peace throughout the world. When Denmark's citizen Peter Madsen is launched into space by the Heat 4 rocket built by him and Kristian von Bengtson. He should not have to worry about a military satellite shooting a rocket at him. When Denmark signed GA Resolution 2222 Denmark expects the resolution to be followed by all countries. However, Denmark believes that more debate should follow on whether any new treaties are needed to secure peace in space. Denmark believes that the current statutes prohibiting WMDs or Weapons of Mass Destruction secure a peaceful use of space for countries on the ground. Also, a system set in place to destroy nuclear missiles while in space could be very beneficial to all countries, because it would prevent a nuclear holocaust. Denmark agrees with the United States that it would be nice to be able to prevent a nuclear holocaust from happening.
When the world looks at the nations of the world who are part of the space race, they would like to see that it is not an area where there will be mass conflicts seen on a scale like Star Wars, or Star Trek, instead they would like to see it as a way to secure the future of the world.
