The rights of HIV-Positive Individuals is of the utmost importance to the Republic of Lebanon. Lebanon, because of it’s great concern for it’s people wishes to provide sufficient care for people infected with the detrimental disease. However, Lebanon has not had significant issues with the disease, making it difficult to project any elaborate ideas for the further protection of human rights. But Lebanon, in conjunction with the World Health Organization, has taken the initiative to create National AIDS Control Program in Lebanon to spread disease awareness and necessary protection for its infected citizens. In 2008 there were 31.3 million adults living with HIV/AIDS. People have been mistreated and their natural rights have been violated in various countries across the globe, because of their disease. In Africa alone there are an approximation of 14 million children living with HIV/AIDS, and the number is growing. It is the duty of our committee to protect these innocent people, and produce fair and practical resolutions to insure their safety. Therefore, since HIV has become a global pandemic, Lebanon is willing to help the welfare of our global community.
Lebanon, because of it’s great concern for the individuals effected by HIV, believes the United Nations should help the infected peoples appropriately, making sure to respect any religious or cultural conditions. The UN should offer help, but must be sure to respect regional customs. Furthermore, Lebanon believes that before the UN takes full responsibility for the issue, a universal guideline for the rights of individuals infected with HIV/AIDS should be enacted. These guidelines are to be determined by the delegations represented in our committee–they must serve to protect the peoples affected by this disease in a fair and universal way. Moreover the most practical solution to the equal rights of HIV-positive individuals is a viable prevention program assessable to all people across the globe, which would help spread awareness and provide help. Therefore, with the solutions made in this committee the spread of HIV, a pandemic, can be halted and eventually abolished. With the help of The World Health Organization the rights of HIV positive individuals will be rightfully fulfilled.
Lebanon is confident that the well being of the innocent peoples infected with the tenacious disease will be put before any prejudice beliefs. It is the responsibility of the United Nations to create an equal living experience for everyone in the world and to grant equal rights to all. But Lebanon recognizes that the abolishment of all discrimination is not practical, but believe s the efforts put forth in our committee will help.
Furthermore, Lebanon does not believe that there will be any objections to the positive rights of people infected with HIV. Lebanon is open to any appropriate and practical solutions to fix this grave issue and Lebanon wishes that it’s fellow delegates will respect the rights of the people plagued with this disease, while making sure to help and resolve this issue as best they can.
