The nation of Thailand hasn’t had too strong of a stand or view on the xenophobia violence. Xenophobia is defined an unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of that are foreign and strange in dictionary.com. The nation’s capital Bangkok is known to many as a land of smile, and it is open to tourists around the world, however, just recently, the nation of Thailand had slightly changed its view to foreigners because the people of Thailand do not want foreign nations to be involve in Thailand’s governmental system. Thailand believes that nationalism is important, and that Thai remain defensive against those who criticize the government from other nations. The rise of xenophobia violence rooted from government system or hatred from other nations or organization. For example, 9/11 in the United States of America is a clear example of why there is a rise of xenophobia. However, there are many situations or problems that led to the violence part. Racism, ethnicity, and nationality have a huge part in dealing with xenophobia violence because those are always problems that separate two different groups, and in the world, there has been long history about how all these cause violence to erupt.
Thailand promotes world peace and would work with nations to decrease the rate of xenophobia violence, and also, xenophobia violence should not exist if all nations cooperate or respect each other’s properties and values. Differences in ethnicity should not be a reason in xenophobia violence; however de facto, most xenophobia violence came from ethnicity problems. The people of Thailand have been working toward to lower xenophobia violence in the nation, but it is very hard to tell everyone in the nation to ease xenophobia because it is not simply a physical state but also a mental situation. As fact, Thailand would be willingly working with the UN to spread the anti-xenophobia message across the nations and to the people. The nation of Thailand believes that the sense of xenophobia would not be completely disappeared because there are terrorists in the world. Thailand respectfully criticizes the UN for not showing much action toward the problem. One thing, Thailand notices is that sometimes this xenophobia violence are directed toward refugee because refugees came from other nation that the people might dislike. There are refugees in our nation, and we respect and provide all necessary materials to those who needed them. Xenophobia violence can be tie to the attack on humanitarian workers because usually humanitarian workers come from different nations.
Thailand believes the UN’s involvement in combating the rise of xenophobia violence is valuable; however, different nations need to work together to ease xenophobia because xenophobia is basically dealing with foreign relationship. A combating the rise of xenophobia violence committee should be form composing of delegates from different nations to discuss the problems that result such violence. This committee can also discuss how nations should respect each other’s ideas and to build a stronger foreign relationship among the nations. Thailand would like to point out that respecting the different races, ethnicity have a huge effect on xenophobia violence.
