The primary goal of the Green Initiative is to turn world industry, commerce, and general lifestyles into environment-friendly systems. Reducing emission of carbon-dioxide into the atmosphere, protecting a major percentage of the worlds wildlife population, and keeping natural niches undisturbed are main motives for the Green Initiative. As the world alters its ways to become “green”, the United Nations must also keep the ideals of a competitive, stimulated, and growing economy and commerce in mind.
Australia greatly encourages the swift shift into an environment-friendly industrial age. Already promoting ways to shift energy sources and make the industry environmentally safe, Households account for almost one-fifth of Australia’s carbon emissions, large business are also almost fifty-percent of the issue. Australia already provides tax incentives to households and business’ that have “green” features, including solar-panels providing energy for the household itself, irrigation systems for fresh water, and utilizing recycled materials. According to the United Nations Environment Programme, “The natural growth of population continuously presents problems for the preservation of the environment” and “natural resources on earth…must be safe guarded for the benefit of present and future generations through careful planning or management” As the people begin to realize the importance of preserving the natural world, ways to do so are put into action.
Means of the Green Initiative have already been put into action by the Australian government (including the tax incentives mentioned above), also consisting of the progress of nuclear-power sites. Australia promotes the most probable solution to the environmental-crisis at this time, creating tax incentives for those who do utilize energy-saving and environmental-safe programs and investing in the advancement of technology for “clean” energy. Growing a large percentage more crops globally is also vital for this environmental shift, due to the upcoming technologies that require natural crops, adding to the feeding of the general population. Therefor, the world must make multiple changes and advancements to improve the security of the environment, and Australia is a strong supporter of such shifts.
