The government of Brazil fully supports the green initiatives of the United Nations. Although Brazil the tenth largest energy consumer in the world, it has already made great strides to increase the use of green energies. Much of Brazil’s energy comes from renewable sources, particularly hydroelectricity and ethanol; the nonrenewable energy is mainly produced from oil and natural gas. Brazil is also expected to become a major oil producer and exporter. But this does not mean that Brazil will stop trying to improve its production of green energy. Brazil wishes to become green, and is exploring all options, including nuclear, solar, hydroelectric, wind, and ethanol. But, at the same time it realizes that it cannot do this overnight. Due to the fact that Brazil is a large energy consumer, it recognizes that it will take time to break our dependence on oil.
Brazil is not the only nation that wants the UN become more green, many nations in the European Union support this belief as well as the US, and Canada. Brazil recognizes that there are nations who wish to become green, but do not have the money or economic strength to do so. Brazil encourages these nations to pursue green initiatives when they are able to.
Although many nations favor the implementation of green initiatives, there are some that do not want to become green. The government Brazil does not agree with these nations’ views and believes that all nations should value the condition of this planet above all else.
