Bolivia has an ongoing drug trafficking problem that attracts the use of firearms by the cartels who transport these recreational drugs. The cartels located in Bolivia use these arms to ensure the sales of their recreational drugs and to provide a counter advantage from raids by Bolivia's authorities police and other rival traffickers. The sales of the weaponry currently in Bolivia resign in international transactions, cartels either leave the country to purchase weaponry or the firearms are brought into the country by gun runners who have set arrangements with the interested cartels. Bolivia's gun crime mostly resigns in these cartels/traffickers and the gun runners that have routes through Bolivia.
The most efficient way to cease the small arms trade as a united world is formulating a coalition that combat arms trade, and/or the UN's Office On Drugs and Crime create goals that are possible for nations to achieve and substantially disturb the current and future small arms trade. These goals could be monitored by The International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA) and any other United Nation's body that also are brought into attention due to the circumstances of why there is arms trade. These goals would focus on destroying trade of illegal weaponry and what may bound the arms trade in nations. If countries sought out to follow these goals they would need to increase law enforcement and create a cabinet or division in their authorities that mainly focus on ridding their country of illicit arms. If neighboring countries work together to annihilate arms trade it would work as an advantage because most of the firearms trade are from across border transactions. Bolivia and any other nations who participate in these actions against small arms trade will see a decline in organized crime, and reduced number of civilian fatalities of gunned down victims.
The campaign that the UN launched to combat illicit small arms trade is a great way to address these issues that are prevalent around the world. But this campaign should include specificity that have a positive counter measure to stop the illegal weapons trade in regions that have significant problems with cartels and terrorists that threat a population in that region. If the United Nations put out more ideas and harness more effort to create programs within nations or regions that target the reasons why small arms are pouring into these areas.
