Trafficking and trading of illicit small arms is a greater problem in today's modern world than it has been ever before. The Middle East is one of the most dangerous places on earth in terms of armed terrorists creating havoc among the nations in this region. Israel has addressed the issue of illicit small arms trade and placed it among the most important issues on its national agenda. Israel cooperates with its neighboring countries where peaceful relations are present to prohibit small arms trade along common borders. The illicit trade of small arms is often a crime in itself and promotes acts of terrorism all around the world. Only with the proper licenses should anyone be allowed to traffic and trade small arms under any circumstances.
In order to prevent the illicit trade of small arms there must be programs enacted focused at finding key trade routes that these weapons are smuggled through and stopping them at the base. These programs will not support outright violence, but if need be, violence would be used for the good of the common people. Terrorist organizations such as the Palestinian Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad are known terrorist groups that must be stopped for they are hurting unarmed and innocent civilians. Only by attacking the structure and base of the illicit small arms trade can it truly be put to a stop.
The state of Israel hopes that other nations, not only in the Middle East, but also around the world will realize the severity of the illicit small arms trade situation and will agree that stronger programs are needed to disrupt the smuggling of these weapons.
