The health and well being of an individual is a fundamental human right and should be preserved for all citizens. It is the responsibility of every nation to ensure that their citizens are in good health, and if they are not, they have access to health care. The ideal health care system may not be attainable for undeveloped nations, which is why developed nations with the resources need to help usher in new health care systems for all people of the globe. In many cases the infrastructure is already there, but low standards have resulted in poor health.
This committee should maintain and recognize that access to health care is a human right previously laid out in the UDHR. This entails access to basic health care to all citizens in order to maintain healthy populations for the benefit of each individual as well as the population as a whole. Health care should be provided to all citizens of a nation and should not be denied due to religion, social or economic class. We must also realize that the process of providing health care may be a transitional process for some nations. Nations must first establish the framework for which they will eventually be able to provide health care to all citizens. This involves the basic health care coverage provided by the state, which may cover preventative care, such as vaccinations. This is vital in maintaining healthy populations in areas where diseases spread easily or conditions are poor.
Azerbaijan would like to work toward defining a goal or standard for health care and lay out a process in which that goal can be met by every nation. This committee also needs to take into account the possible economic burden this may create for undeveloped nations when providing healthcare. It is important that the international community maintain strong relations with each other in order to improve the health of our citizens which may include aid to countries in order to provide the health care to every human in need of it.
