Healthcare should be defined as a human right and all measures possible should be taken in order to help countries that cannot currently achieve this goal. Healthcare is important to the stability and success of a nation because without healthy people there cannot be a successful government. Establishing healthcare in all countries, especially developing ones, is a daunting task but it is important that all citizens are able to seek medical attention when in is necessary to their well being to do so.
The earthquake in 2010 devastated the country of Haiti. It destroyed many of the hospitals and clinics that had recently been constructed throughout the nation. It also greatly diminished the population leading to less doctors and nurses in the country during this time of great need. Although the global community responded with generous pledges of money and aid immediately after the earthquake, Haiti is yet to see a great deal of this money. Haiti believes that all people deserve the right to healthcare but it needs help in accomplishing this goal. We are still greatly recovering from the earthquake of 2010. It greatly appreciates all that has been done to help and would like to see this support continue.
Haiti is appalled at how quickly the global community can forget about the disaster that struck out country. We are simply asking for the aid that was promised to us so that out women do not have to give birth on the muddy grounds of their huts or so that the recent cholera outbreak does not kill more of our dwindling population. Haiti calls on the help of more developed countries as well as NGOs to help us in our mission of creating a country with more trained doctors and nurses, more effective hospitals and clinics, and a system for information about these new clinics to be spread to the rural areas of the country.
