The resolution of political conflicts is a matter of on-balance discussion. Countries involved, or those wishing to be involved, must weight the potential risk and benefits of taking action in an affected country, all the while being mindful of the rights to sovereignty granted to all nations.
Pakistan believes that the vehicle for this on-balance deliberation should be international organizations such as the U.N. and regional bodies. But at times the nature of these bodies make them inefficient to harbor these important conversations. In the case of the United Nations, the 5-permanent member system of the Security Council lends no hand to democracy, but rather potentially to special interest. Certainly this is no way to proceed with talk on the political fate of one nation. That is to say, regional and international bodies must be as democratic and fair as possible in order to weigh conflict resolution mechanisms.
The sacred right of sovereignty must, as always, be given strict attention. But Pakistan recognizes the cases by which a nation's sovereignty can be suspended. It is important for all member nations to be mindful of these conditions, as doing so will result in a more mindful and attentive approach to solving political conflicts. Nations must display attentiveness to these conditions and similar ones in order to have full information and knowledge on the topic of debate, which is as important as ever when nation's political futures are on the line.
