Egypt believes in easy access for all of its citizens when it comes to the access of pharmaceuticals, but Egypt would also like to insure the safety when it comes to the profits of the pharmaceutical companies.
Egypt currently utilizes the Health Insurance Organization in order to provide universal health care for both government employees and school-aged children. Also included in Egypt’s mission to insure safety for all of its citizens, Egypt also utilizes the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) as a body of the Egyptian Ministry of Health in order to protect its citizens by regulating safety and quality pharmaceuticals whilst ensuring affordable prices. Egypt believes that this system is a quality and affordable ways to keep medicine a priority within the nation. By keeping medicine a priority, the safety of citizens is able to be protected from the negative side effects from counterfeit drugs and also protect the income of pharmaceutical companies.
Egypt also believes that the limiting of counterfeit pharmaceuticals should be a primary concern for all countries in order to insure the protection of the pharmaceutical companies which provide tested and decently affordable medicine, especially in combination with health care, whether that be public or private.
The United Nations must create a system that allows for the detection of pharmaceuticals in order to protect not only the safety of the people, but also the safety of the business of high quality, affordable pharmaceuticals.
