In the midst of one of the greatest political changes in modern history, the microscope has been intensified on the issues in national governments. As a result, the question of the democratic government has been seriously considered as the solution to the people’s problem. Jordan encourages a gradual move towards democracy for those countries that have a system other than a democratic institution, have failed.
A state is democratic when the people decide who their leaders are, to some extent. For example, there are elections held for members of Parliament, who are then led by the Prime Minister, who was selected by the King. In this case, the Jordanian government leads a constitutional monarchy. As such, there is an extent to the democratic rule of the people. Other countries should adopt such an approach for those who are in need of a change to their government, should it be inadequate in representation or leadership, according to the consensus of the United Nations.
By encouraging democracy movements and pushing for reform where reform is needed, the United Nations can bring this world towards modernization from the inside out.
Those failing governments that are slow to reform should be subjected to various degrees of sanctions, but more importantly, aid the people within that want to encourage or start political reform. However, any move towards democracy that progresses too quickly can also be dangerous. Jordan urges the United Nations that democratization stays as a work in progress to countries that fail to respect the rights of their people.
