While the war against disease is not one that can be won using tactical strategies or brute force, it is an important battle in ensuring the overall health of our world both literally and figuratively. In order to further our success in this department it is imperative that the nations of the UN pull together to create better strategies for prevention and containment than those currently in place. The Dominican Republic feels that while containment is in fact a vital part of creating a safer environment, prevention is the key in cutting down the spread of disease between countries.
The best method would include a plan to provide clean water to areas likely to receive tainted water, starting with areas with larger, denser populations and working down to more remote areas. Before settling on a plan, however, the Dominican Republic would like to meet with other countries to gather insight on a viable option to protect citizens of our country as well as any countries who could be affected. The spread of disease across borders affects several countries and has the potential to affect many others if not taken care of. Because it is so easily a global issue, not just a national one, it is the responsibility of all countries to ensure that disease is stopped in its tracks and is unable to devastate any more communities than it already has. This issue is not an issue the Dominican Republic should be left alone to solve, but one that should be adopted and repaired by every nation to ensure the better health of our world as a whole.
