Libya has a large desert climate, with a very small Mediterranean coastal growing zone. Due to climate change Libya will lose most if not all of its water resources. Also, Libya’s growing season is very short; with climate change coming the growing season will only get shorter which would devastate Libya. While Libya has a fragile environment and it is already stressed from climate change, Libya has key resources to use as global climate shifts.

Libya is 90% desert; this gives us major potential for renewable energy. While Libya does have hydrocarbons to export those are not going to last forever. Libya is mostly desert so we can provide electricity from renewable energy to countries in need of it but we would need financial and technical help to get it all started. So, with support from other countries, Libya and most of Northern Africa can input solar and wind power sources because most of Northern Africa is desert. This energy would be generated for Northern African use and it would be exported to Europe.

Libya would need UN aid with continued water for human/animal/plant & agricultural life. Also, with UN aid in we could transition from a hydrocarbon export economy to developing Libyan resources for solar and wind power for North African use & export to Europe. Libya is willing to work with all interested nations to prepare for global climate shift. We would also be willing to work with any interested countries to input a renewable energy program within Libya and Northern Africa.
