The issue of political unrest is a significant one for all countries and the way the international community deals with it is very important. The country of Belarus believes the best way for the international community to deal with such issues is to allow the nation involved to resolve the issues amongst itself unless such involvement is specifically requested.
When dealing with domestic disputes within a nation, it is best left for the nation to deal with unless a nation outright asks for help. We do not believe it is right for the international community to press themselves upon a country and force their involvement, which would ultimately drive a nation away from the United Nations. If a nation is in need of help regarding civil disputes, they should be expected to request. Nations hold the right to deal with domestic issues on their own and not allowing a nation to do such is a violation to their national sovereignty.
Legitimate protests vary from unwarranted attacks in the sense that protests are peaceful and do not hinder the safety of others. If a group is gathering with violence or is impeding upon others safety it is not a legitimate protest group and must be treated as such. Nations must work to protect their people and if groups are preventing them from doing so nations should be allowed to deal with such groups appropriately.
