Political unrest is a very prominent problem in today's international community. Dealing with this political unrest is very delicate ordeal. Peacekeeping is a very good technique for handling political unrest domestically. As for international aid to resolve political unrest, the international community should provide a safe neutral zone for leaders of the two sides of a conflict to meet. Other than that, the international community should not involve themselves in the domestic disputes of a nation.
Countries have the right to deny international intervention in their domestic unrest, and no actions should be made by the UN against nations who deny international intervention. Sovereignty is violated when the international community intervenes with domestic disputes.
The difference between a legitimate protest and unwarranted attacks on public order are two things; the hostility of the protesters and the size of the protest. Protesters that are particularity violent cannot be recognized as a legitimate protest. When they are violent, they become more along the lines of a terrorist organization. Also, the size of a protest determines it's legitimacy. A four person protest can not be considered political unrest.Therefore, for a protest to be legitimately called a protest it must have adequate size and must be nonviolent. Protests are no the only form of political and civil unrest but are the most common. As stated before, terrorism is another form of political and civil unrest.
