All around the world there are border disputes, over something simple or often times over something major. These border disputes end in two ways; diplomatical resolution or through war. However there is a difference between cross-border conflicts and border disputes.
The Republic of Rwanda believes that the methods implemented by the United Nations are effective. Rwanda fully supports the U.N's methods for peacefully resolving border disputes. Recently Rwanda has experienced a cross border conflict with the nation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. DRC soldiers crossed into Rwanda and were transporting weapons through. Fortunately this conflict was resolved through diplomatic disscusion. However this conflict could have easily have resulted in a war between one another. This conflict is one of many, not only for the nation of Rwanda but for the world as a whole.
Due to conflicts the Republic of Rwanda requests the action of the security council in order to improve the actions being done to resolve these border disputes across the world. Although the United Nations current role in these conflicts is important, such as the use of the blue helmet workers and volunteer soldiers but with limited amounts of each the role could be increased. Keeping the peaceful role and not calling for military action without neccessary and appropriate cause is important for the safety and health of the nations within the border conflicts.
The point in which other nation's to become involved should be based upon the risk and safety of the countries involved and the countries around them. The United Nations however should be in charge of determining who and how the other countries are involved, with the input of the home government based upon the severity of the actions that have occurred.
