Good morning honorable chair and delegates,
This delegation would like to clarify; what is sectarianism?
Sectarian strife is a form of communal violence inspired by sectarianism, that is, between different sects of one particular mode of ideology or religion within a nation/community. Religious segregation often plays a role in sectarian violence as it is the case of ISIS or Syria.
Lithuania is part of the countries that haven’t been directly affected at all by minorities and sectarianism. However, Lithuania is part of different organizations in which members are being affected by sects.
Lithuania beliefs that this conflicts are a priority because day a day it’s affecting more and more countries. Lithuania recommends to concentrate the Middle East sectarianism because of the historical background they’ve had and because of the magnitude of the situation. Nonetheless, Lithuania understands that it’s also necessary to vanish other countries sects conflicts and that this committee should look for a viable solution.
Lithuania would like to ensure the safety of the population of the affected countries citizens. This delegation also realizes that its own current strategies against ISIS and its history of involvement in the Middle East have not produced significant beneficial results. Now, Lithuania is looking forward to allying with other nations in the attempt to contain sectarian violence and maintain stability in the Middle East, Africa and everywhere in the world.
Lithuania is willing to support with every resource that we have available any possible solution given by any member that provides stability and safety to this affected countries and of course, their citizens.
