In order to reduce infant mortality we should first focus on the short term solutions and when the situation has stabilized we should look to more long term solutions. Educating future mothers and young girls worldwide on baby care and sex education can help lead to lower rates of infant mortality. To do this we must look to expanding organizations such as UNICEF and provide incentives for developing countries to better educate their female population. A increase in incentives a moneys provided to developing nations to increase their medical infrastructure should also be considered. The greater their own medical supplies and infrastructure the more self reliant these nations can be. In the short term this would be costly but in the long run it would save money and lives. This goal of education should not stop at just baby care and sex education, but also continue into educating a greater amount of its citizens in medical practices. This would help end the reliance some of these nations have on foreign doctors and charity organizations. This would not only help lower infant mortality rates, but also help along the development process of a nation increasing the quality of life for all inhabitants. And when these countries become more developed they can begin to provide aid for their neighboring countries and other developing countries across the world. This effort is not only important to save the lives of these young children and their mothers, but also in saving the future of our world.
