The access private sector entities can have to space will be a powerful force. It may be able to let economies thrive, or arrest their growth for years. We will strive to guide private sectors in a non-harmful direction. We promise that the prospect of space travel as a business venture will be safe and secure for everyone.
India strongly believes in keeping space competitive for all nations. The economy is based on competition, and to compete, many different companies need space programs. We will pass resolutions that break up monopolistic threats.
It would be dangerous for one or two developed nations to have a monopoly on the market because developing nations are at risk for being taken advantage of. There are countless examples of nations whose economies are in shambles due to corporations seeking cheap labor.
India stands strong against business’ chokehold on nations that could easily stunt their economic growth. We will only pass resolutions that allow space programs to grow if they protect nations whose capital could be taken advantage of.
It is the job of SCITEC to provide the regulations that private entities must follow to block them from monopolising the industry or violating human rights, specifically the amount of interaction a business can have in developing countries. While the UN already defines labor rights, private sector access to outer space is a dense multi- layered issues so some specific measures need to be taken.
