The situation revolving around Israel and Palestine has been ongoing since the end of the Second World War, and has continued to develop for decades. Chile stands by it's decision to recognize Palestine as a free, independent, and sovereign state, and hopes that a nation of Israel and a nation of Palestine will be able to coexist in the near future. Chile also hopes that these nations will have clearly defined, secure borders so that they may both live peacefully. Chile also hopes that the nations of the Middle East will accept the potential for dual nations, instead of being absorbed into axiomatic debates where both nations enter, but only one leaves. The leaders of Israel must also be prepared for this, as any other result will invariably lead to controversy throughout the international community. This community is currently divided, as there are currently nations that refuse to acknowledge the legitimacy of one nation or the other,including much of Europe, North America, North Africa, and the Middle East. However, to achieve any lasting result, there must be an increased sense of cooperation on this topic, so that extremists on both sides have a chance to negotiate effectively and productively to achieve a result that is at least moderately acceptable to most involved. Chile looks forward to working with nations that have recognized both states, including South America, much of Asia, and South Africa.
