The conflicts between Israel and Palestine has lasted for nearly a century and has killed thousands of Israelis and Palestinians in the process. The United States is one of many countries who have tried to intervene in this conflict; making agreements that both states will recognize, such as the Camp David, Oslo, and Camp David II accords. These treaties have been disregarded by the governments of both Israel and Palestine. Conflicts have occurred because of Israel's inability to control its people and their migration to the West Bank. The United Nations considers these settlements in the West Bank illegal but has not presented a resolution. Also, the Special Political and Decolonization Committee must determine how to reduce the number of Israelis on Palestinian land and to halt its aggression towards Palestinian people.
As a country that was previously under colonial rule, the Republic of Indonesia understands the oppression that the people of the Nation of Palestine endure. In past years the Republic of Indonesia has attempted to achieve Palestinian independence through proposals to foster talks between both states but have failed. The State of Israel has caused the conflict between both states to escalate to the point that may be incurable. The Israeli citizens that have made settlements in the West Bank are committing a crime and are not following the UN General Assembly Resolution 181 (II) which sets distinct borders that each country must follow, and leaves Jerusalem international territory. The Nation of Palestine has obeyed this Resolution; however, the State of Israel has time and time again evaded the borders of The Nation of Palestine. The Republic of Indonesia fully supports The Nation of Palestine and seek its independence, until that day we will be unable to have any diplomatic relations with the State of Israel.
The Republic of Indonesia proposes that the United Nations rule all Israeli settlements in the Nation of Palestine illegal and work towards the independence of the Nation of Palestine. The Israeli settlements make the conflict between Israel and Palestine more complicated; to lessen the conflict both States to set defined borders that both states recognize. Also, the Republic of Indonesia proposes that the Israeli government reserves the right to tax the Palestinian people to the Palestinian Authority, this will allow for the growth and development of the Palestinian land which as of now is being neglected by the State of Israel. In previous years the State of Israel has collected taxes from the Nation of Palestine, but has limited development of basic forms of recreation in the Nation of Palestine, while Israel is using that money for their prosperity. It is crucial the Special Political and Decolonization committee stand with the people of both the States of Israel and Palestine. The best way for the United Nations to create peace is to remove the Israeli settlements and prevent new Israeli settlements from developing; this can be accomplished by increasing border security between Israel and Palestine. Also, slowly moving settlements back to Israel over the next five to ten years, this can be carried out by providing incentives to those that are willing to move back to Israel’s borders. Those that will not move must apply for Palestinian citizenship and be apart of the Nation of Palestine. The most important resolution is to define borders which both States will recognize with and agree.
