No issue has been more important in defining the Middle East as the Israeli-Arab conflicts. Ever since the inception of the State of Israel, the citizens living there have been under attack by multiple entities intent on destroying their entire population and their way of life. Israel is a needed safe haven for the Jewish population. Persecuted for centuries by many different nations and groups of people, this country was formed to defend the remnants of the Jews that weren't killed during World War II. Israel's creation created enemies though, and today, the constant threat of attack and terrorism looms on the nation. Legitimate governments in surrounding nations fund illegitimate terrorist groups and militias, and constant fighting occurs. Conflicts like the Arab – Israeli wars and the 6 Day War proves that the surrounding nations are vying for power in the region, and the chance to see Israel fall. Recently, there has been extreme cases of bias in the UN towards Israeli issues. Even former Secretary General Ban Ki Moon admitted that during his time in the UN he noticed “disproportionate amounts of resolutions” aimed towards the disruption of Jewish sovereignty in the region. The UN must remain stable on the issue of Israel, and work hard to promote peace in the region and condemn the forces that try to erase the state’s democratic and Jewish identity.

Israeli citizens living near areas like the Gaza Strip are constantly in fear of rocket and terrorist attacks. Incursions on their territory by Palestinian insurgents is common. The terrorists pose as civilians, and will try and eliminate Israeli Defense Force soldiers with weapons like knives, guns, and explosives. State-sponsored terrorists receive support with weapons and aid from countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon. Other countries must protect Israeli influence in the Middle East and stop others from curbing it in the UN. More than 45 resolutions have been passed by other countries condemning Israel for its violent but defensive reactions towards militant Palestinians who threaten the security of Israeli civilians. This means that the Human Rights Council has passed more harmful resolutions against Israel than the rest of the world combined. This clear bias must be stopped by all moderate members of the United Nations. The economic, defensive, and cultural influence that Israel has with its allies in the the world is one of the major reasons why the Jewish population living securely inside of its borders has not been persecuted or destroyed by foreign entities. Israel’s allies must come forward and put a stop to the actions of hostile nations in the UN. It is the duty of all peace loving nations to show support for the Israeli cause, and actually act upon the messages of solidarity and peace that they so often speak about at the UN.

Israel pleads to the nations of the world to effectively address the Israeli-Palestinian sovereignty issues with haste and logic. The state proposes that the United Nations rule in favor of Israel when conflict and trouble arises in the area. The country offers protection to the largest Jewish population in the world, and works hard to promote stability and peace in the region. The world cannot fall into the traps that terrorists and belligerent nations have set for the region, and must ensure that Israel thrives for years to come.
