The Syrian Arab Republic would like to stress its dissatisfaction with Israel, especially in its regard to the Syrian Golan. After multiple UN meetings and resolutions over the debate on the Syrian Golan, Israel still does not release the land back to the rightful owners: the Syrian Arab Republic. Before the Israeli occupation of the Syrian Golan, the land was home to 140,000 Syrians, which led to those Syrians being forced out of their homes and never being able to return even to this day. The Israeli’s demolished the buildings upon the land and even robbed gravesite, yet there has been no help from the UN to force the country to follow the multitude of resolutions from the Security Council like Resolution 479 in 1981, which confirms the illegality of Israel’s annexation of the Golan The Syrian Arab Republic has the right to that land. In September of this year, Israeli warplanes fired missiles near Maysaf and killed two army personal and damaged the site. The Syrian Arab Republic will not let this act slide unpunished. Not only have they performed multiple strikes on the Syrian Arab Republic, but Israel has gone to extremes in order to help ISIS terrorists launch attacks on the government and people. The Syrian Arab Republic cannot support any help to Israel after so many harsh misconducts and mistreatment. The Syrian Arab Republic is here to help the Palestinians who have been wronged by the Israelis again and again. The Syrian Arab Republic has been a static partner to Palestinian refugees and groups who help restore the land back to the Palestinian people. In 1948, around 90,000 Palestinians refuges fled to Syria and has been a home to the PLO over time. In regards to another group advocating for liberation of Palestine, The Syrian Arab Republic has had a tumultuous relationship in the past. In 1976 to 1982, the Hamas spurred an uprising against the Syrian regime, resulting in thousands of civilian deaths. The Syrian Arab Republic wishes not to help the Hamas if they continue in the path from the past, but the Syrian Arab Republic could be swayed to help support the group if they continue their strides to repair the bad relations between them and the Syrian regime. As exemplified in the past and present, the Syrian Arab Republic is willing to aid the Palestinians in the conflict, but the Syrian Arab Republic will not help Israel in any form. A possible resolution could be to have the Security Council speak on the subject, but the Syrian Arab Republic also knows that even if a resolution is agreed upon, the Israeli government will not follow through with the agreement. Since the resolution must stay peaceful, as dictated by Article 12 in the charter, the committee should at least support and send help to the groups trying to liberate Palestine. The Syrian Arab Republic would be most satisfied if the problem of the Syrian Golan could be officially resolved by forcing Israel to recede from its occupied territories, including the Golan, and follow Security Council Resolution 242 from 1967, which would give Palestine land back as well.
