Hello! I am Sir Joseph Mark Consolla I representing the Islamic Republic of Iran, but you may call me Joe! I would like to assure you that Iran is strongly against the idea of xenophobic discrimination, despite our long history of aggression to foreigners. However, we do not feel as if this issue is necessary for reforms in the United Nations. In most areas of the world, this issue does not seem to raise much violence. We believe that if there is really an issue of xenophobic violence in a nation, it should be up to that nation to solve its own problem. Any resolutions made by the United Nations on this issue are not going to actually cut to the heart of the problem. Rather, it is going to just involve countries in other countries private affairs. To fix this problem, we believe that the United Nations should adopt an "every man for himself" attitude, and provide aid to nations struggling with xenophobic violence only if necessary.
The Islamic Republic of Iran feels that the biggest problem in helping xenophobic violence decline is that many members of the international community assume other countries are hot spots for xenophobic discrimination based on past events. We feel that we ourselves are victims of this problem. The Islamic Republic of Iran seems to have established a reputation for xenophobia, despite not having any major problems with xenophobia since 1979, which, of course, was right before the Iranian Revolution.
